Honors Faculty Lindy Davidson
Health Communication | Ethics | Exploration
Dr. Lindy Davidson is the associate dean of academic affairs in the Judy Genshaft Honors College. She holds a B.A. in communication arts from Belmont University, an M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary, and a PhD in communication from the University of South Florida. Specializing in health communication, Dr. Davidson brings both academic expertise and personal insight to her work. Her research explores health experiences using qualitative methods including ethnography, autoethnography, narrative, performance, and poetic inquiry.
Interdisciplinary Impact
Professor Davidson has taught courses such as Ethics at the End of Life, Global Constructions of Disability, Narrative Medicine, and Global Health. She values an engaging classroom environment where students learn through reading, writing, discussion, and active exploration — often drawing on her experiences as a parent, researcher, and activist to bring real-world relevance to classroom discussions.
Since 2016, she has led ten study abroad trips to destinations including England, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. By fostering international partnerships, Professor Davidson involves students in ongoing projects that build from one group of students to the next, resulting in an ever-growing list of resources and opportunities.
Teaching and Service
Professor Davidson teaches in the Medical Humanities curriculum at the ¹ú²ú¶ÌÊÓÆµMorsani College of Medicine and is a faculty leader in the Honors College’s Healthy Humanity commitment. Her service includes roles with:
- The Center for Hospice, Palliative Care and End-of-Life Studies at USF, Executive Committee
- University Community Partnerships at USF, Communication Council
- National Communication Association, Disability Issues Caucus Legislative Assembly Representative (2017-2019)
- National Endowment for the Humanities, reviewer

As associate dean of academic affairs, Dr. Davidson is dedicated to helping students explore their academic passions through dynamic classes and transformative experiences. Her work blends research, performance, and lived experience, using creative approaches to storytelling and knowledge sharing that empower students to engage deeply with complex issues in health, ethics, and communication.
